Description

Southwark Council revealed low participation rates and lack of diversity in people accessing community councils.

The council asked us to develop a campaign to encourage young people, particularly women and people from the black and minority ethnic communities to get involved in their community councils.

We created a social marketing campaign focusing on what real local people have done to change their community. The integrated campaign ran across outdoor media, online, community events and ambient media, and featured local residents who used the council to make the changes they wanted to see in their community a reality.

Results: The campaign exceeded expectations leading to a 25 per cent increase in participation from target groups.
