NHS Tower Hamlets
reach ‘most improved
PCT in England’, again
A multi-phased marketing campaign helped NHS Tower Hamlets become the most improved PCT for GP access for the second year running.
The GP Patient Survey, carried out by Ipsos MORI, was released on 30 June and shows that 82% of residents in Tower Hamlets can now get an appointment on the same day or within
48 hours.
NHS Tower Hamlets improved by 8% last
year, which is eight times more than the next best PCT.
All 152 primary care trusts in England have been working hard to improve their GP services to meet government target. What seems to set NHS Tower Hamlets apart is the strategic approach to marketing and communications that have overcome residents’ old perceptions of poor service.
David Groom, head of urgent care and access at NHS Tower Hamlets, said: “Proactive communications can really make a difference, helping residents understand what services are offered by their local GP. This helps them, and also benefits us, as less people use A&E and other urgent care services unnecessarily.”
