Getting parents to solve childhood obesity

Eating and physical activity habits that are formed in early childhood continue into adulthood. However, engaging people about weight issues is very difficult, especially when talking about the weight of their children.

By using peer-led messaging we were able to tackle the issue head on and make a real difference in the attitudes, knowledge and behaviours of local families using SureStart Children Centres.

A very positive 59% of families involved in the evaluation have changed and adopted a healthier behaviour.

Where obesity is estimated to cost the country £15.8 billion every year - a cost of £4.2 billion to the NHS alone - ROMI (return on marketing investment) provided by Get Set and Grow will be more than significant.

“We’re delighted with the results from the pilot and working with Resonant Media.

Get Set and Grow is excellent - The project
is really engaging
and also manages
to communicate
some very hard-hitting messages, without turning families
away. It’s this rare combination that has lead to real changes
in behaviour.”
